Erika Kurokawa

Founder & Lead Instructor, Former Competitor

“When I started rhythmic gymnastics as a child, I fell in love with it. It gave me an outlet to channel my competitive spirit, learn discipline, and become more confident in myself.”

Erika began her journey with rhythmic gymnastics over 2 decades ago and went on to compete professionally on national, regional, and global stages. A lot of who she is today – her confidence, discipline, and resilience – was shaped by rhythmic gymnastics. She is fully confident that movement is one of the most wonderful ways in which a child can grow, not just physically but cognitively and emotionally too.

Driven to share the joys and benefits of rhythmic gymnastics in a welcoming space, Erika set up Balance Academy over 10 years ago and has taught hundreds of children.

Erika is certified by the Gifu Gymnastics Association and has taught students of all ages in Japan, Singapore, and Canada.
