Personalised Coaching for Children: Private Gymnastics Lessons

Give your child focused, one-on-one attention from elite professional gymnasts from Japan — designed to support their growth, confidence, and technical development, while respecting their current club training.

Why Choose Private Lessons at Balance Academy?

Private lessons help children accelerate their progress with individual attention that is difficult to achieve in group classes.

At Balance Academy, our private sessions are designed to:

  • Strengthen foundations
  • Improve technique safely
  • Build confidence and body awareness
  • Complement (not replace) existing club training

We are not a competitive team and do not recruit athletes away from clubs.

Our role is to support young gymnasts wherever they train.

Who Are These Private Lessons For?

✔️ Children aged 3–18 years old

✔️ Beginners who need extra confidence or fundamentals

✔️ Recreational gymnasts looking to improve technique

✔️ Advanced gymnasts preparing for competitions

✔️ Club gymnasts who want to learn from elite level coaches without changing clubs

What Your Child Will Work On

Every private lesson is adapted to your child’s age, level, and goals, and may include:

  • Core strength training
  • Flexibility improvement
  • Posture and alignment correction
  • Stamina development
  • Myofascial release stretching (to safely increase range of motion)
  • Coordination and movement control

Sessions are carefully structured to be effective, safe, and encouraging.

Our Coaching Philosophy

In some gymnastics communities, it can feel uncomfortable for children to train outside their main club.

We want to be very clear about our position:

  • We are not a competitive team.
  • We do not recruit athletes.
  • We support gymnasts and clubs.

Our coaches — including Japanese top-level athletes — work with children to:

  • Improve skills safely
  • Develop healthy training habits
  • Build a positive mindset toward gymnastics
  • Support long-term growth, not short-term results

Erika Kurokawa

Founder & Lead Instructor, Former Competitor

“When I started rhythmic gymnastics as a child, I fell in love with it. It gave me an outlet to channel my competitive spirit, learn discipline, and become more confident in myself.”

Erika began her journey with rhythmic gymnastics over 2 decades ago and went on to compete professionally on national, regional, and global stages. A lot of who she is today – her confidence, discipline, and resilience – was shaped by rhythmic gymnastics. She is fully confident that movement is one of the most wonderful ways in which a child can grow, not just physically but cognitively and emotionally too.

Driven to share the joys and benefits of rhythmic gymnastics in a welcoming space, Erika set up Balance Academy over 10 years ago and has taught hundreds of children.

Erika is certified by the Gifu Gymnastics Association and has taught students of all ages in Japan, Singapore, and Canada.
